Studio Engineering Course

We have a state of the art professional studio, with all the equipment you need to produce professional tracks. Including an MPC, Pro-tools, Logic and a vocal booth. The studio is available free for all young people who have completed the 8 week accredited course. Where you will learn how to record, edit and mix your own tracks.


Duration: 8 x two-hour sessions every Tuesdays and Fridays

Course objectives

Young people will learn all the skills required to record, edit and mix down a full track. Using industry standard equipment and Software. Learning Apple-Mac based hard disk recording techniques, transferable to multiple working situations.

For example: 

· Sound recording and editing for film and media projects   

· Recording bands and any live event

· The production of radio shows for the Internet and for broadcasting 


Course Breakdown

Week 1: The Equipment. Sound Paths and Routing Audio.

Week 2: Recording Methods. An Introduction to Sequencers. The Concepts of Audio and Midi.

Week 3: Basic Music Structure. Constructing beats using Audio Instruments, Loops and Midi sequencing with external instruments.

Week 4: Audio Recording and Editing Techniques

Week 5 & 6: Creating a Full Track Recording Session

Week 7 & 8: Mixing, Bouncing and Burning CDs.
